About Ingestics

What is Ingestics and how is it different from other import plugins?

Ingestics is a fully automated content-ingestion and publishing pipeline for WordPress. Unlike a traditional RSS or CSV importer, it connects to REST APIs and RSS/Atom feeds, applies authentication, can run AI transformation on Business, enforces tiered quality filters, and supports manual, scheduled and webhook-driven publishing. It is not a scraper—it works with sources that return structured data in standard formats.

What kinds of REST APIs does it work with?

Any reachable HTTP or HTTPS API returning JSON, XML, CSV, HTML or plain text. You configure the endpoint, authentication, parameters and field mapping. On Business, Ingestics can auto-detect the response format. Private, reserved and local network targets are blocked by default.

Does it support RSS and Atom feeds?

Yes, from the free tier, using WordPress SimplePie. Lite and above add RSS auto-discovery from a site URL, full-text extraction for truncated feeds, and configurable output modes on Business.

Is Ingestics a scraper?

No. It is a structured API and RSS ingestion plugin. It can process authorised HTML responses via selector mapping when configured, but it is not a general-purpose website scraper—you remain responsible for source permissions.

Do I need to write code?

No. Sources, mapping, filters and schedules are all configured in the WordPress admin, in a classic-editor-friendly interface.

How ingestion works

How does duplicate detection work?

Each incoming item is checked against existing posts by title and by source URL before publishing; matches are skipped. The duplicate_title and duplicate_url filter rules (Pro/Business) add configurable control—skip, draft or publish anyway.

What authentication types are supported?

Free adds None, API key (header or query), Bearer and HTTP Basic. Lite adds OAuth2 client credentials. Pro adds OAuth2 authorization-code with refresh and PKCE. Business adds AWS SigV4. All credentials are stored AES-encrypted.

How does pagination work?

Page and offset pagination on Lite+, and cursor / next-token pagination on Pro+. You set the parameter and, for cursors, the response field to read the next token from. Caching is bypassed for paginated runs so each page returns fresh data.

What happens on an HTTP 429 (too many requests)?

Free through Pro detect the 429, pause and log it. Business adds a rate-limit budget queue: 429-affected items enqueue to a database queue that a separate cron drains within the API rate-limit window.

What are provider presets?

One-click configuration templates (Lite+) for common sources—YouTube API, generic API key/Bearer, and Google News, YouTube and podcast RSS. Apply a preset, enter your key, and the rest is pre-filled and fully editable.

Can I use custom post types?

Yes (Lite+). Each provider can publish to any registered post type—for example a job_listing CPT fed by a jobs API, or a product CPT fed by an e-commerce feed.

Scheduling, triggers and transforms

Does it support scheduled automatic fetching?

Yes (Lite+). Intervals of 1h, 2h, 4h, 6h and 24h, plus 12h and a custom hour-based interval on Pro, and separate API/RSS schedules on Business. On low-traffic sites, run a real system cron to call wp-cron.php reliably.

What is the inbound webhook trigger?

A REST endpoint, POST /wp-json/ingestics/v1/trigger (Pro+), secured with a shared secret in the X-AAPI-Webhook-Secret header and IP rate-limited. External systems send a body with fetch_type (api, rss, both or publish) to trigger a run without logging in.

How does AI rewrite work and is it safe?

On Business, the item title, excerpt and/or content is sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini or OpenRouter to be rewritten before publishing. Guardrails include configurable character limits, control-character stripping and a strict mode that skips or force-drafts failures. Keys are encrypted and never shown in logs, and calls only fire when you enable the feature.

What translation services are supported?

Business supports DeepL, Google Cloud Translation, LibreTranslate and Azure Translator, plus OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini and OpenRouter. Translation runs after AI rewrite in the pipeline.

Can I display imported content on the front end?

Yes (Lite+), via the auto_api_feed or aapi_feed shortcode, the ingestics/feed Gutenberg block, template tags, and Elementor or Bricks widgets on Pro+. Layouts: grid (Lite+), carousel (Pro+) and ticker (Business).

Are my keys and secrets stored securely?

Yes. All secrets use AES encryption with a random IV and HMAC integrity check, prefixed aapi_sec_v1:. Secrets are masked in previews, tests and logs; remote URLs are validated against SSRF; and admin AJAX requires nonce and capability checks.

Is there really a free edition?

Yes—the free WordPress.org edition covers core API and RSS ingestion with manual runs, mapping, dedupe, preview and the activity log. No credit card, no time limit.

How does billing work and what does it cost?

Paid plans are billed annually through Freemius: Lite $4.99/mo, Pro $6.99/mo and Business $9.99/mo. All major credit cards and PayPal are accepted, and payment details are never stored on our servers.

Can I upgrade at any time?

Yes. Buy a higher tier and enter the license key on the License tab; features unlock immediately with no file replacement, reconfiguration or data loss. Your existing providers, schedules and posts are never touched.

Can I use it on multiple sites?

Multi-site usage depends on the activations in your plan; multisite pricing is available. To move to a new domain, deactivate the old site first, then activate the new one.
